Voice talent want to please you. They really, really want to do a good job. You just have to guide them and be open and supportive to what they give you. Here is a scenario of what you might say and what talent hears. First bad, then good.

Anyway you get the picture. Try to give talent organic direction so they can come up with a read on their own. It will be more believeable.
