BRITAX USA celebrates their appearance in the new film, What to Expect When You’re Expecting by touring the country to bring exciting events to 15 different cities around the US through the “Great Expectations Tour” .

These radio spots by Charlotte ad agency LKM Ideas mirror the movie – they’re funny and “real-life”. Groundcrew was very glad to be the audio production partner for these spots. Check them out here:

Lex Med TV Spot Becomes “Sounds Great” Radio

Lexington Medical Center Director of Marketing & Public Relations Mark Shelley called on Groundcrew to adapt this TV spot to radio. This campaign announces the introduction of an open heart surgery program at Lexington Medical Center, further elevating their program of comprehensive cardiac care in South Carolina.

Relying on visuals and sound design, the tv spot shares compelling messages without accompanying voice over. Music and sound effects build emotion, while scrolling copy lines visually tell the story.

To translate this spot for radio, Groundcrew used a collage of voices sharing the same messages. Through smart casting, sound design and engineering, a radio spot was created that compliments the tv, yet also stands alone as a distinctive, creative piece of this compelling campaign.

The same music, composed by Fred Story of Concentrix Music and Sound Design, is used in both. Here you can see – and hear – for yourself … We are very very glad to be part of this excellent campaign!

East Charlotte Nissan – Looks AND Sounds Great …

Pinckney Marketing created this campaign for their client East Charlotte Nissan, and we were thrilled to be part of the mix. The audio mix, to be precise. Groundcrew’s Ross Wissbaum recorded and handled all things audio, and the exceptionally talented Robert Lee Simmons is the voice.

Ross did a “phenomenal job on the sound design” says Producer/Writer Kim Ballard, and “took the spot to the next level”. We appreciate the props and agree that sound design and an awesome VO are key to helping any spot make the most of their message. And for this one, we love the entire approach.

Kudos to: Pinckney Marketing, East Charlotte Nissan, Kim Ballard (Writer/Producer), Jessica Storms (Graphics), Dennis Benning/Jett Media (Camera/Editor), and Greg Martin (On-camera talent) … Great work!

Charlotte Restaurant Week – Featuring Nelda Simpkins

Longtime Charlotte personality and spokesperson Nelda Simpkins emerged from semi-retirement to promote “Queen’s Feast”, also known as the popular “Charlotte Restaurant Week”. Nelda of course is also known as John Causby, national voice actor and owner of Groundcrew Studios. John is also the announcer voice in these spots… The Groundcrew’s amazing Ross Wissbaum handled sound design (there wasn’t really a trash can on set)… And we love this entire campaign helmed by Bruce Hensley and his public relations and marketing agency Hensley Fontana. Stuart Owens and his team at Paradox Films produced them, Craig King and Kingdom Post handled the editing, and shout-outs wouldn’t be complete without kudos to makeup artist and stylist Sandy Fix for helping Nelda look her best!

About Andy Boswell: Renaissance Man and fantastic Charlotte NC talent Andy Boswell was a child star extra in Spielberg’s “The Color Purple” and is one of our area’s standout actors. Andy has also worked extensively in special effects makeup on films such as “The Patriot” and “Evil Dead II”. Additional trivia fact for old-school Charlotteans: Andy’s family owned the original White Horse on East Boulevard. He’s also one of the creative restaurateurs behind Boswell’s Sandwich Salvage Company.

Bill Thomas, a great friend and voice talent passed away recently. We will always deeply treasure the years spent working with Bill and enjoying his rare talent for acting, life and friendship. He was truly a one of a kind. Here he is with John Causby in only one of many great spots they did together. Bill is the therapist, John is the poodle trapped in a man’s body:
